Case Summary:
In this case, the client that we had the opportunity to work with was a postdoctoral associate from China in the field of vascular biology. Specifically, his specialized research has focused on factors that influence vital vascular processes, including angiogenesis and the development of arterial plaque, which have particular applications in cancer research as well as treatment of overall cardiovascular health. His work had resulted in 17 peer-reviewed scientific articles in English and Chinese, 1 book chapter, and numerous presentations at national and international conferences; at the time that his case was filed, his publications had been cited at least 461 times by independent and leading researchers from prestigious institutions and organizations around the world, indicating the major significance of his work. He had also reviewed 14 manuscripts for at least 8 distinctive, internationally-circulated journals. His superior level of expertise was confirmed in the following quote from an independent recommender, “Ultimately, [client’s] research has not only provided a new tool for cancer research in the form of a newly-isolated strain of tumor-derived endothelial cells, but also opened new avenues in our search for more effective cancer treatments.
