Case Summary:
In this case we were given the opportunity to work with a postdoctoral researcher from Hong Kong whose work focused on the use of nanomaterials such as metal nanoclusters for improving medical imaging and technology. His continued employment in his field carries substantial benefits for both his field in particular and the people of the United States as a whole, as we successfully demonstrated. His contributions to his field have received widespread recognition as highly significant, and are frequently relied upon by others, as is shown by the fact that when we filed his case, his 4 peer-reviewed publications had received at least 40 citations from researchers around the world. An independent recommender remarked upon the importance of our client’s work: “Nanoparticles have been increasingly used in medical imaging and drug delivery techniques in recent years, and the foundational knowledge provided by [Client’s] study offers a viable new class of nanomaterials, thereby expanding the application of these technologies and pushing the field to a new level of innovation. There is no doubt that this is a significant medical breakthrough that can be attributed to [Client], and I believe that he is a vital part of the continuation of this research.” We were able to successfully argue that our client would serve the national interest to a significantly greater degree than others with similar education and experience, and his NIW petition was approved in four months and thirteen days.
