Case Summary:
We waited 4.5 months for the USCIS to take action on our client’s EB-2 NIW (National Interest Waiver) case. We are pleased that they agreed with our argument and ultimately approved his petition. Our client, a postdoctoral associate working in the field of entomology, hired us to help him get one step closer to permanent residency. We did everything we could to help him achieve his goal, and we are pleased that our diligent efforts paid off.
It took us several months to prepare our client’s EB-2 NIW petition packet. We were very meticulous in our efforts and made sure that every piece of information was accounted for. For instance, we carefully reviewed our client’s research on plant-insect interactions at the molecular level to understand the core of his research and its significance to the United States. After reviewing his work, we determined that his findings have a direct impact on agricultural industries and the overall understanding of insect oral secretions. We established that our client’s work benefits the American agricultural industry as well as international food security.
Our NIW petition packet also detailed our client’s various accomplishments, both academically and professionally. We noted that his M.S. was obtained from a university in his birth country of South Korea and his Ph.D. was obtained from an American institution. We also took note of his professional triumphs: the 142 citations amassed from his 6 publications, and the 7 times he conducted reviews for 4 scientific journals.
Although we had already put together a strong NIW presentation, we wanted to be sure that our case was airtight. Thus, we urged our client to contact other influential entomologists to provide us with recommendation letters. Six experts gladly obliged, one of whom stated that “Without his continued participation and input in advancing the agriculture industry, I believe that we will find costly delays in the pace of the implementation of innovative solutions in this specialty…I am afraid that if we were to halt the work that he is doing, there would be serious consequences on a global level. With an increase in the country’s interest in food production, this outcome would be undesirable for the interests of the United States.”
