Case Summary:
North America Immigration Law Group worked with a research associate who needed help with his EB-2 NIW (National Interest Waiver) petition. Our client obtained his doctoral degree from a university in his birth country of Switzerland and has amassed years of experience working in the field of particle and neutrino physics. His qualifications made him a strong candidate to apply for his green card under the EB-2 NIW visa category.
As part of our legal services, we advised our client to request experts in his field to contribute recommendation letters. Four experts obliged, and their letters of support were incorporated into our well-balanced EB-2 NIW petition packet. One of these recommenders attested to the value of our client’s work to the United States by writing, “[Client] has collaborated on the most influential projects resulting in profusely cited papers that are true references in the field. As the United States continues to prepare and conduct progressively more powerful and advanced neutrino experiments, [Client's] skills and expertise are increasingly essential to the scientific enterprise of this country.” Our petition packet was also comprised of data on the nearly 3000 citations that our client’s 25 publications had collected, as well as detailed descriptions of our client’s research on hadron production differential cross-section measurements in the context of neutrino oscillation experiments. Amongst other things, we also discussed how he developed key parts of NOvA’s beam-line and detector simulation tools. The NOvA experiment is the United States’ flagship large-scale neutrino oscillation experiment.
Our client’s EB-2 NIW was approved in just 1 month and 11 days. He opted to file his I-485 using our DIY packet and recently received the good news that his application had been approved: he is now an official American permanent resident. We join him and his spouse in celebrating this joyous occasion.
